Good quality hair extensions last a lot longer than cheap synthetic ones, but we still like to get our monies worth.
If you’re wondering how to make your extensions last longer, heed my advice..
Brushing
I know, i know. Who needs advice on brushing their hair at this point in life? Its just an everyday mundane task right? Well, not now you have extensions to look after..
– Brush your extensions every morning and every night, its very important to keep them tangle free to prevent matting.
– Brush before you wash. Hair becomes weaker when wet so its best to detangle before you shower, while the hair is dry.
– Brush gently from the bottom, taking time to not tug the hair.
– Use a hair extension brush. Either a loop brush or a tangle teaser.
Place importance on your daily haircare routine
As with many other things, keeping your hair healthy is very much about consistency.
Use premium, high quality hair care products tailored to your hair type and suitable for extensions. Use a leave in conditioner/oil/serum on the mid-lengths to ends of your hair to deter tangles. Avoid roughly scrubbing extensions when shampooing. Never sleep with wet hair. Use a heat protector spray when heat styling.
Prevention is better than cure
Try to prevent your hair being distressed by tying it up at night, wrapping it up when your on holiday or at the beach. Heat protect!! Don’t allow hair to become matted. Remember that your extensions are not receiving any of the natural oils your scalp produces so its very important to emulate this process using a hair oil or serum. Condition, condition, condition.
Follow these tips and see how to get the longest wear out of your extensions and keep them looking fresh and new for longer.
